It’s not everyday that you get to catch an international band’s debut Australian show. There’s always a special kind of energy at these shows, an energy that was truly in the air when Canadian dream-pop darlings TOPS played at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Support act Platonic Sex kicked off the night, who brought their post-punk sound to the night. These guys have been on our gig bucket list for a hot minute, and with good reason. They bring a sense of joy and energy to the stage that often comes with a young local band, and you’ll be sure to catch us front row at their next headline gig.
As TOPS arrived on stage, they launched into "Janet Planet," a track that set the tone for the evening with its dreamy melodies and ethereal vocals from lead singer Jane Penny.
