As we eagerly anticipate Listen Out 2023, it's a perfect time to reflect on the festival's past successes and what to expect this year. Positioned right after Splendour and before the summer festival circuit, Listen Out has carved out an ideal spot in the Aussie festival calendar.
What sets Listen Out apart is its ability to capture the essence of the current music scene each year. They've consistently introduced exciting acts like Brockhampton and hosted memorable shows by artists like Travis Scott in 2016. This year is no exception, as they effortlessly strike a balance between the hip-hop and electronic genres, showcasing a remarkable diversity within both scenes.
All Under One Roof Raving
The electronic lineup for this year is particularly strong, with Skrillex as one of the headline acts. Making a comeback from a hiatus, Skrillex presents a fresh take on his dancefloor hits. He’s also joined by recent collaborator Four Tet, who is set to unleash his indie electronica to the masses. While we’re very close to the holy trinity of Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred Again, we already raved to Fred at the beginning of the year and are stoked to see the remainder of the trio this Listen Out.
Beyond these prominent names, Listen Out features other talented electronic artists such as Metro Boomin and Kenny Beats, representing the hip-hop production front. The lineup also boasts house music talents like Young Franco and Yune Pinku, making it an overall impressive electronic music offering.
Hip-Hop At Its Finest
In the realm of hip-hop, Listen Out 2023 showcases a diverse roster that reflects the current state of the scene. Lil Uzi Vert takes the lead, having released another attention-grabbing album this year. His discography, spanning trending tracks like "Just Wanna Rock," emotionally infused "XO Tour Life," and classic trap bangers, makes him a perfect headliner.
Notably, the festival welcomes Ice Spice for her Listen Out debut. The Bronx rapper has had a busy year with trending collaborations and her own hit tracks, promising to draw a massive crowd. Meanwhile, JPEGMAFIA returns to Australia with his electrifying live show, and British rap fans can look forward to performances by Arrdee and JBee.
The Countdown is On
Listen Out is hitting Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney this September, be sure to grab tickets now before it’s too late.
