Open Season Announces 2024 Program Ft. Explosions in the Sky, Yves Tumour, Sky Ferreira & More / by Jack Gobbe

As music fans in Brisbane, we’re often spoilt for choice by the time winter rolls around and the renowned Open Season program kicks off. This year is no different, with the flagship program from the minds behind The Tivoli and The Princess Theatre bringing a plethora of exciting artists to our city.

Building upon the success of previous years, Open Season 2024 aims to extend its reach beyond traditional venues, infusing the streets of Brisbane with dynamic energy through various pop-up locations. Showcasing a diverse lineup of both international and local talent, the program promises to offer something for everyone, from iconic heritage acts to emerging artists pushing the boundaries of music.

Dave Sleswick, Creative Director of The Tivoli and Princess Theatre -

“This year’s Open Season program has something for everyone. From iconic heritage acts to sets from some of Australia’s most exciting up-and-coming artists. There is street art, delicious food, shows for the kids and even a performance art series. There’s a lot to discover in this year’s edition and we can’t wait to welcome you back.”

The festivities kick off with a free, all-ages street party on the first day of winter at Blak Day Out on King Street. Featuring performances by acclaimed Indigenous artists like Emma Donovan and the newly formed hip-hop collective 3%, alongside local talents, the event will also host the Open Season Food Fiesta, showcasing Indigenous retailers and diverse cuisines.

Where will you find us this Open Season?

We’re very keen to dive into the celebration of Elefant Traks, an influential independent music label that has shaped Australia's hip-hop and electronic music scene for 25 years. The night will bid farewell with a night of music featuring their greatest artists, including Hermitude and The Herd.

Elsewhere on the lineup, we’ll be front row for Yves Tumour and Sky Ferreira. And with other international legends like Explosions in the Sky and INIKO, we’re set to be very busy this Open Season!

Tickets to Open Season go on sale at 9am AEST Wednesday 27 March. Head to theOpen Season website for all the details.
