Here's What Brisbane Gigs You Need to Catch in February 2023 / by Jack Gobbe

While St Jerome’s Laneway Festival kicks off the month, February also delivers another killer round of gigs in Brisbane. Read up and get your tickets below.

Fontaines D.C // The Triffid (2nd February)

The Australian arrival of Fontaines D.C has been long-awaited since their postponed 2020 tour. While the Irish five-piece is a part of the stellar Laneway lineup, we’re stoked to see them in all their glory during their sideshow at The Triffid.

Soccer Mommy // The Triffid (17th February)

Soccer Mommy’s recent album ‘Sometimes, Forever’ cemented her status as one of the stars of the indie-rock scene in recent years. Balancing soft melodies with her signature fuzzy sonic backdrop, we’re stoked to see Soccer Mommy return to Brisbane this Feb at The Triffid.

Future Islands // The Powerhouse (18th February)

Samuel T Herring’s vocals on a heavenly BadBadNotGood track might have done the rounds on TikTok last year, but it is when the powerful frontman is in his own band, Future Islands, where he truly shines. Future Islands have delivered beautiful, evocative indie-synth music for the past decade, and there is nowhere more fitting than Brisbane’s Powerhouse to catch them this Feb.

Boy Harsher // The Princess Theatre (18th February)

Boy Harsher has been a staple in many of our playlists in recent years and with good reason. The industrial, brooding electronica they produce is rare to find these days. The Princess Theatre is the perfect backdrop for their debut Australian tour and to bask in their relentlessly dark electronic soundscape.

Turnstile // The Fortitude Music Hall (19th February)

You can imagine our brief disappointment when we saw Turnstile drop off the Laneway lineup in Brisbane. That was until we saw their sideshow announcement. The Baltimore punk outfit have been on our radars since their 2021 record ‘GLOW ON’, and we’re keen to see their renowned live energy this month.

Empire of The Sun // The Fortitude Music Hall (25th February)

Aussie electro-pop icons Empire of The Sun are making their long-awaited return to the stage this Feb, and we couldn’t be more pumped. Having last played back in 2017, you’ll find us The Fortitude Music Hall catching this iconic set.

Julia Jacklin // The Tivoli (26th February)

Dropping one of our favourite releases of 2022, Julia Jacklin has been flying the Aussie music flag for the better part of last year. Finally making her return back home, Jacklin will be sure to bring her uncanny knack for pulling our heart strings at The Tivoli this Feb.

Charli XCX // The Tivoli (28th February)

This one is going to be huge. Charli XCX hasn’t slowed down since her last Australian appearance at the beginning of 2020. Whether it’s collaborating with elite artists or dropping her critically acclaimed album ‘CRASH’, Charli XCX has been making waves. It’s safe to say that The Tivoli is going to host a sweaty rave when Charli visits.

Pavement // The Fortitude Music Hall (28th February)

It’s not every day you get to experience an artist of Pavement’s legacy live. The American underground indie act has a distinct back catalogue that is equal parts recognisable and alternative. Supported by local indie darlings Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Pavement’s return to Australia will be one any alt-rock fan can’t miss. Grab your tickets here
