Must See January 2023 Gigs in Brisbane / by Jack Gobbe

While 2022 took a while to get going for live music, 2023 is already shaping up to have a hot gig summer. On that note, here are the must-see Brisbane gigs this January.

Joey Badass // The Fortitude Music Hall (6th January)

Dropping one of the slickest hip-hop albums of 2022, Joey Badass kicks our year off at The Fortitude Music Hall. Equal parts lyrical and bombastic, Joey’s beloved back catalogue wil be sure to provide endless head nods. Grab your tix here.

Arctic Monkeys // Riverstage (11th January)

Coming off the back of their Falls Festival run, we’re absolutely stoked to see Arctic Monkeys make a sideshow appearance at the Riverstage. We’re prepping our vocal chords for tracks like ‘Do I Wanna Know’ and ‘505’, while we’re also keen to hear how their avant-garde new release ‘The Car’ plays out in a live setting. If you’re still without a ticket you might be out of luck for this sold-out event, but keep an eye for re-sale closer to the set.

Genesis Owusu // The Fortitude Music Hall (14th January)

Genesis Owusu cannot be stopped. The Canberran artist has been on an absolute tear since his 2021 record ‘Smiling With No Teeth’ made waves across the music scene. His live show is one you can’t miss, and you can catch him at The Fortitude Music Hall this January.

Ty Segall // The Princess Theatre (27th January)

It’s been almost 9 years since Ty Segall has graced our shores, and this time round he’s bringing his fantastic ensemble the Freedom Band. Segall’s laidback psychedelic jangles have never sounded better, and the fuzzy corner of rock he inhabits will be the perfect soundtrack to a night at the picturesque Princess Theatre.
