Sydney groovers Winston Surfshirt has released the video for dazzling single ‘Show Love’. As a fan-favourite from the group’s second album, ‘Apple Crumble’, the video embodies the laidback charm of the single through its hypnotic visuals courtesy of director Jordan Kirk
Kirk worked alongside artist Genevieve Kaiser in creating the trippy visual effects found throughout the video. On the collaboration and video, Kirk says that ‘I had been admiring some of the trippy animated visuals [Genevieve] had been putting out over the years and thought that she had the right eye to come on board and help with the animated elements that I envisioned for this clip.
The treatment was largely a performance piece, that was then to be transformed via the application of repetitive effects to create a hypnotic visual. Having not worked much with green screen or heavy post production effects previously, I knew that my idea was going to be challenging to pull off. Luckily, I managed to assemble a very talented team at short notice, and together we were able to bring the idea to life.’
Surfshirt’s triple J feature album ‘Apple Crumble’ has only grown their already adoring fanbase since its 2019 release. With love from the likes of Sir Elton John and Zane Lowe, Winston Surfshirt has a mighty 2020 ahead of them, with some special announcements coming soon.
